Opening Times

Ripon Spa Surgery is open at the following times:-

Routine appointments are available from 8.00am for nurses and 8.30am for doctors.

The surgery also provides extended opening hours.  These usually consist of late evening surgeries on Tuesday, Wednesday and  Thursday continuing until 7.00pm.

Urgent appointments and medical queries are handled through telephone contact with the 'duty doctor' in order to provide the most clinically appropriate service.  This service can also be used if you think your problem needs to be dealt with more quickly than the next available routine appointment, you need medical advice quickly, or may not need a face-to-face consultation - ask the receptionist to put you on the telephone list and the duty doctor will ring you back asap. The response times vary pending on clinical work load, but we aim to return most calls within two hours, unless it is an emergency, which are dealt with instantly. Please bear in mind that that our doctors do home visits between 1200 and 1400 and may not be able to call you back during those times (unless your call is urgent).

If you are expecting a callback please ensure you can answer the phone when we ring. A lot of time is wasted if we have to ring people repeatedly. Please discuss with reception if this is difficult for you.

When We Are Closed

If you have an emergency requiring medical advice outside the surgery opening hours please ring 111 (NHS 111)

You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it is not a life-threatening situation.

The NHS 111 service is staffed by a team of fully trained advisers, supported by experienced nurses and paramedics. They will ask you questions to assess your symptoms, then give you the healthcare advice you need or direct you straightaway to the local service that can help you best. That could be A&E, an out of hours doctor, an urgent care centre  or a walk-in centre, a community nurse, an emergency dentist  or a late opening chemist.

If NHS 111 advisers think you need an ambulance, they will immediately arrange for one to be sent to you.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

Dispensary Opening Times

PLEASE NOTE: we may not be able to dispense to you between 12:00 and 14:00, and after 16:00, due to lack of qualified staff.

To obtain medicines urgently, please contact the surgery.
